TIMES JAZIRAH, BANYUWANGI – In the heart of Blambangan, where the beauty of nature knows no bounds, lies the captivating Jopuro – a haven for those seeking the untouched allure of the Earth. Nestled in the Rejopuro Hamlet of Kampung Anyar Village, Glagah District, Banyuwangi Regency, Jopuro stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of serenity and natural wonders.

Jopuro's charm unfolds through its natural springs that gracefully form tranquil pools, creating an environment that dragonflies, scientifically named Anisoptera, find irresistible.

What sets Jopuro apart is the effortless encounter with dragonflies in every nook and cranny of the tourist area. This unique phenomenon not only symbolizes the pristine condition of Jopuro's water sources but also underscores the importance of dragonflies as bioindicators, reflecting the overall health of the ecosystem.

Samian, the Chairman of the Community Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in Jopuro, expresses his gratitude for the abundance of dragonflies in the area.

"Dragonflies are remarkable creatures that thrive in clean water and are dependent on a balanced aquatic ecosystem," Samian explains passionately.

Samian recounts the fascinating sight of female dragonflies delicately laying their eggs on the calm water surface and some choosing aquatic plants or water moss as their nesting spots. He elaborates on the intricate life cycle of dragonflies, from egg-laying to the hatching of larvae.

This is a showcase for their vital role in maintaining the ecological balance of Jopuro. "I am often amazed at the diverse behaviors of dragonflies, providing a unique spectacle for visitors," Samian shares.

Beyond being bioindicators, dragonflies serve as unsung heroes in pest control, preying on mosquito larvae and other insects, contributing to a natural and sustainable ecosystem.

"We extend a warm invitation to anyone intrigued by the world of dragonflies to explore Jopuro with us," Samian warmly encourages.

"Schools and universities often bring groups here for research, making Jopuro not just a tourist destination but a living classroom for nature enthusiasts," adds Samian.

Jopuro, with its enchanting dragonflies and thriving ecosystem, invites all to not just witness nature but to immerse themselves in a world where the delicate dance of dragonflies tells a story of balance, beauty, and the enduring magic of Banyuwangi. (*)
