However, this natural wonder faced a recent ordeal as a ferocious bushfire swept through its picturesque Savana, threatening its remarkable beauty.
Now, after arduous efforts to contain the flames, Mount Bromo stands ready to welcome visitors once more, marking a triumphant return from the fiery depths of adversity. The local authority has officially announced the reopening of this enchanting tourist area starting from Tuesday (19/9/2023).
"As of Tuesday, September 19, at 00:01 WIB, Mount Bromo tourist area will be open to the public," Septi Eka Wardhani, the Head of Administration at BB TNBTS (Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Office) stated.
For your information, this world class tourist destination was closed for not more than a week due to a bush fire caused by human error. The case started when a couple doing a pre-wedding photoshoot with a flare. The flame sparks and get on the bush which resulting a huge fire. It spread so fast due to the strong wind blew around the savnnah.
Finally, after a long batlle with the fire and unpredictable weather and the support from the authorities they managed to put it down. And now the beuty of Bromo has been able to be enjoyed back.
How to Reach Bromo and Ticketing
Septi also stated that visitors to the BB TNBTS area can enter through several gates justlike before. Those include Coban Trisula in Malang Regency, Wonokitri in Pasuruan Regency, Cemorolawang in Probolinggo Regency, and Senduro in Lumajang Regency.
Regarding ticket purchases, Septi mentioned that they can be made online via http://bookingbromo.bromotenggersemeru.org, and there will be no offline ticket sales at any entry points unless there are issues with the online booking system.
Prospective visitors are required to adhere to all rules and regulations within the BB TNBTS area, which are detailed on the online booking website.
For visitors who have purchased tickets through online booking from September 7 to September 18, 2023, rescheduling options are available through the link http://bit.ly/reschedulebromo092023.
Tourism visits to Ranu Regulo and Ranu Darungan have also resumed, and tickets can be purchased directly at the entrance gates of these locations. However, the climbing of Mount Semeru remains closed as the volcanic activity level is still at Level III, or Alert.
Visitors Should Participate in Keeping the Destination Safe
Septi also emphasized the importance of compliance with entrance procedures, rules, and prohibitions within the BB TNBTS area. Given the ongoing fire hazard, visitors are urged not to bring any equipment that could potentially start a wildfire in the Bromo Mountain Savannah.
"Building campfires, open flames, fireworks, firecrackers, and flares are strictly prohibited in the Bromo Mountain Savannah to ensure safety and security for all," Septi concluded.
