TIMES JAZIRAH, MALANG – Nestled in the cool highlands of Lawang, Malang Regency, Puspa Agraria offers a refreshing agritourism experience. Located in Bedali Village, this educational farm introduces visitors to hydroponic melon cultivation while inviting them to pick the fruits directly from the vine.

It’s not only a recreational destination but also a learning center where visitors of all ages can understand the intricacies of modern, sustainable farming.

Hydroponics, a soil-less cultivation method, is the heart of Puspa Agraria’s appeal. The system allows melons to grow in controlled environments using mineral nutrient solutions in water.

Visitors are guided through greenhouse tunnels, where neatly arranged melon vines bear fruit under carefully managed conditions. The result? Juicy, premium-quality melons that are both delicious and grown using environmentally conscious methods.

The educational aspect of this agritourism site makes it especially attractive for school groups and families. Children can learn about plant nutrition, irrigation systems, and harvesting techniques in a hands-on, interactive way.

“We want to introduce people, especially the younger generation, to smart farming that’s clean, efficient, and sustainable,” Supriyadi, one of the staff members of Puspa Agraria said.

Beyond melon picking, visitors can enjoy a scenic rural atmosphere and gain insight into village life in Bedali. The surrounding area is rich with agriculture and framed by Mount Arjuno in the distance, providing a peaceful backdrop for a day of learning and leisure.

Puspa Agraria also collaborates with local farmers and community members to support agro-based tourism initiatives.

According to the manager, Puspa Agraria is committed to promoting food security and eco-friendly farming practices. “Our goal is to be more than just a tourist spot. We are cultivating awareness about the importance of sustainable agriculture,” he explained.

This mission aligns with broader efforts in Indonesia to empower rural communities through education and innovation in the agricultural sector.

Guests can take home freshly picked melons as souvenirs or purchase other locally grown produce from a small farmers’ market on-site. THe price starts from Rp30.000/kg.

The will be visiting for no charge. Yes, there is no ticket fee for the entrance. It's free. Each visit contributes to the local economy and supports the continuous development of Bedali as a model for village-based agritourism.

With its blend of education, sustainability, and natural beauty, Puspa Agraria in Bedali Malang stands as a fine example of how agritourism can benefit both people and the planet.
