JAKARTAAs the joyous occasion of Lebaran approaches, millions of Indonesians prepare for the annual tradition of mudik, a journey back to their hometowns to celebrate with loved ones. However, amidst the excitement, the mudik journey can pose various challenges. To ensure a smooth and safe trip, the Disaster Management Agency of the Indonesian Ulema Council (LPB MUI) provides essential tips that travelers must consider.

The Chairman of LPB MUI Central, Prof. Jafar Hafsah, emphasizes the paramount importance of safety during the mudik journey. With the potential for adverse weather conditions, especially during the rainy season affecting several regions in Indonesia, Jafar advises travelers to remain vigilant and heed instructions from authorities.

1. Pray before the Journey

Begin the journey with prayers for protection and safety from Allah SWT. Prayer serves as crucial spiritual preparation before embarking on the long journey, providing peace of mind and reassurance.

2. Check Passenger Health and Vehicle Condition

Before departure, ensure all passengers, including the driver, are in good health. Postpone the journey if anyone exhibits signs of illness. Additionally, thoroughly inspect the vehicle to ensure all systems, such as brakes, tires, lights, and windows, are functioning correctly.

3. Obey Traffic Rules

Adhere strictly to traffic regulations and obey warning signs along the route. Avoid speeding and drive cautiously, prioritizing the safety of oneself and other road users at all times.

4. Perform Obligatory Prayers

Despite being on the move, do not neglect the obligation to perform obligatory prayers. Strive to observe prayers punctually, maintaining spiritual connection even amidst the journey's demands.

5. Stay Informed and Flexible

Stay updated on weather forecasts and road conditions, adjusting travel plans accordingly. Be prepared to alter routes or schedules if necessary to avoid potential hazards or traffic congestion.

6. Pack Essentials and Stay Hydrated

Pack essential items such as clothing, toiletries, snacks, and water to ensure comfort during the journey. Stay hydrated and take regular breaks to rest and rejuvenate.

7. Maintain Health Precautions

Adhere to health and safety protocols if its needed. Wear masks, practice hand hygiene, and bring your own first iad kids including your prescription if you have some severe health issue.

By incorporating these tips into their mudik preparations, travelers can enhance safety and mitigate potential challenges. LPB MUI's guidance underscores the importance of vigilance, preparation, and adherence to religious and safety practices throughout the mudik journey. May all travelers experience a blessed and harmonious Lebaran celebration with their families and communities. (*)
